Overall Personality: Tom is a very smart man, though like his mother, can be a bit snooty to others who he deems as not as smart as himself. He likes to have intellectual talks with others, having earned outstanding on all of his O.W.L.S (though not without work), and in his free time he keeps up on his studies in the various subjects. He likes to read, not only to learn, but also as taking an adventure or solving a mystery in fiction and non-fiction alike. Due to his slight superiority issue, he does tend to be rude and sarcastic often, though he refrains around those he likes (though not all the time). Tom gives a lot of thought to what he does, and rarely does anything without thinking about it first. However, he can be emotional, especially when someone brings up the whole he was Voldemort in this other future. He tends to have very strong feelings, and that makes him act irrationally if one hits those things that he hates or even that which makes him happy. As a professor, he is tough on his students, and does not take slackers kindly. If someone doesn't do their work, they fail, no matter if they do well on tests. He teaches work ethic as well as Defense Against the Dark Arts, as he says. Those who he sees as intelligent he'll try to teach individually. Those who respect him, he also respects. While he might not like Gryffindors particularly, he's able to look past that bias, due to the fact he was raised by a Gryffindor himself, so he is not notably against the Gryffindors, even though he is Head of Slytherin House. | |
History: Tom was born in an orphanage, but he doesn't remember that. He wasn't even a year old when he was adopted by the future traveler named Hermione Granger. He was given the same name that his birth mother gave him, the name of his biological father, in respect. He was raised in Hermione's household, which she had put together fairly fast after finding herself in 1920. Of course, she was in her twenties when she found him. For years, Tom didn't know about the future she kept a secret. She would tell him stories about her friends and how she was from the future. She would tell him about Harry and Ron and her other friends. They were his heroes, and didn't understand the irony. She always left something out, but he didn't know. She didn't tell him about Voldemort for a long time. When he was 11, he was invited to Hogwarts, and he went to train. He was sorted into Slytherin, though he was surrounded by pure blood supremacists. Seeing as he loved his mother and she was a muggle born, he didn't quite get along with everyone, though he kept most of that view to himself, even if he avoided those who were the more radical. However, in his 6th year, Tom discovered that he was the heir of Slytherin, and read enough texts to know about the Chamber of Secrets. He went home that summer between his 6th and 7th year and asked his mother what happened to him in her future, else he would go looking for the Chamber's location to see if he could find who he was there. She refused for most of the summer, and Tom became angry, and left home. Eventually Hermione found Tom, and told him the story. Tom didn't want to believe it, but he knew that the way she was saying it meant it had to be true. And he understood why she kept it from him, even if he was upset that she did. He swore he would never turn into that, and went home with his mother. He finished his final year and wanted to become a DADA professor, but he was told he was too young. Of course, that angered him, and he ended up working for the ministry for a short time. During that time, Tom searched for his father, and found him. However, he lost his temper and ended up hurt Tom Riddle Senior, though he stopped himself from killing the man. Eventually, Tom was hired on as the DADA assistant when the previous DADA professor retired, and the assistant took the job. He loved it, and felt like it was the perfect job for him, but wanted to be the actual professor so bad. Hermione told him that he had to wait and work for what he wanted and he just had to deal with it for now. Eventually, the DADA professor retired and he got the job he wanted so much. However, 11 years ago, his mother fell ill and ended up dying. He struggled for a long time, and still hasn't quite gotten over it. However, when the large group of time travelers arrived, Tom knew it was his job to help them along, seeing as he and Dumbledore were two of the very few who actually knew about it before. And even though he knew that the travelers would not like him, he still tried, and is trying, to help them adjust to the time, seeing as Hermione was unable to find a way back in the fourty or so years she was in the past. |
